Abstract
Since the initial development of Participatory Fish Stock Assessment (ParFish), to provide a rapid assessment of fisheries and encourage stakeholder participation in the management of the stock, numerous pilot studies have been conducted to test and further develop the methodology. These studies have helped demonstrate the utility of this approach particularly where data and information about the resource base are lacking but can also help foster co-management initiatives that may improve the level of compliance with fisheries regulations if local stakeholders have contributed to the management plan. This poster presents a summary of several ParFish case studies undertaken throughout the world, which includes a range of mollusk, crustacean and finfish fisheries.
