Abstract

There is a continuous exchange of pathogens between cultivated shrimp and wild shrimp present in surrounding water bodies. In order to have an inventory basis for subsequently evaluating the impact that the shrimp farm could cause to wild populations of shrimp, were identified the epibiontes and parasites and found the intensity of infection and prevalence between 2006 - 2008 exemplary juvenile of four species of shrimp interest to the fishery: Farfantepenaeus brasiliensis, F. notialis, F. subtilis and Litopenaeus schmitti, since July 2006 to March 2008. The study area included Unare lagoon and Píritu beaches, Gulf of Cariaco and Irapa (Gulf of Paria). We reviewed 1370 exemplars: F. brasiliensis (15,16%), F. notialis (6.2%), F. subtilis (43,14%) and L. schmitti (34,96%). Between the epibiontes were identified to the ciliated: Gimnodinoides sp. Terebrospira sp., Acineta sp., Conidophrys sp., Cothurnia sp. and Zoothamnium sp., in the gills and exoskeleton. The Porospoprideo, Apicomplexo Nematopsis sp., was in midgut and the microsporidium Nosema sp., in muscle tissue. Between the metazoarios, metacercarias of the fluke Microcephallus sp., two types of larvae of nematodes in connective tissue. Between the cestodos Prochristanella sp., and Parachristianella sp., plerocercoides and only similar to Nybelina sp., plerocercoide in hepatopáncreas, and two metacéstodos: a lecanicefálido in midgut and Polypocephallus sp. in nervous tissue. Comparing values of prevalence and intensity of infection with registered for other species of shrimp indicates that, in generally, studied species are less parasitized. Epibiontes and parasites protozoan identified, in cultivated shrimp cause damage affecting growth and feed conversion.
