Abstract

‘Blue Justice’ (defined as ‘recognitional, procedural, or distributive justice issues occurring in the marine and coastal environment’; Bennett et al. 2020) addresses threats to livelihoods, rights, and traditions of coastal communities and fisherfolk. As the race to develop the ‘Blue Economy’ gathers pace, the concept of ‘Blue Justice’ has become increasingly important for small-island nations and is highlighted by the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture 2022. In Calosso and Claydon (2022), we assessed the ‘Blue Justice’ issues facing small-scale fisheries (SSFs) in the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI), a small-island nation and UK Overseas Territory in the Wider Caribbean Region.
