Abstract
During the fishing season of 2005, in the fishing grounds known as “Bajos del Norte, Bancos Ingleses and Cayo Arenas” off the coast of the state of Yucatan, Mexico, using tramps, weight-cephalothorax length without sex discrimination was obtained, W = 1.113CL2.6726 (r2=0.94), Northeast fishing ground showed great potential CPUEmrs =1,329.86 Kg. whole weight or 984 ind·10-3 trap-1, unlike the Norwest ground with, CPUEmrs =1,240.11 Kg. or 807 ind·10-3 traps-1 . Poblational parameters using pooled data showed that K (año-1) = 0.29, L? (LC, cm) = 23.48, to = -02.1, Z = 0.46 y F = 0.26. The estimation for the exploitation rate (E) for both areas was 0.56, this study suggest that it is possible to increase the fishing pressure. Nevertheless, it is essential to continue the evaluation of the effect of the spiny lobster fishery with tramps in this region.
