Abstract
Growth and some fishery aspects of the Queen Snapper, Etelis oculatus, off Puerto Rico were analyzed from fishery data taken from catch records for elucidating a proper fishery management. Using ELEFAN I, the parameters of the von Bertalanffy growth equation obtained were L?= 102.90 FL and K=0.200. The Queen Snapper fishery may strive to catch individuals of 55 cm of fork length for avoiding growth and recruitment overfishing. This management measure would potentially increase the number of fishes able to spawn before being caught and strive to catch fishes near to the length of maximum yield (Lopt)
