Abstract

The determination of the utility of the chores in the artesanal units of fishing with hand line, during 2001 and between March, 2002 and February, 2003 in Providence and Saint Catalina, realized from the information resulting of records of catch and effort, polls regarding the economic situation and direct interviews the handmade fishermen; in the frame of the project “ Ratification and transference of technology for the detection and evaluation of new fishing grounds of fishing in the field of the island of Providence, Colombian Caribe ”, cofinanced by Pronatta, National University of Colombia and Fishermen's Co-operative of Providence. The estimation of the fixed and variable costs, of the chores of fishing allowed to establish the dear final graduation for the traditional areas of fishing (North - Nor Este, South - South East and West); which fluctuated between $34,553 and $70,700 for 2001 and between $ 38526 and $77337 in 2002, being the highest graduations those of the North sector-Nor East during two years. The revenue decided as the equivalent monetary one of the disembarked apprehension, from 385 and 443 records of apprehension and effort (2001, 2002-2003), respectively, bearing in mind the prices average of selling of products for these years, which threw the biggest income for the north sector during two years. Being a major utility for fisherman in the year 2002 equivalent to 2.58 minimal daily salaries with regard to 2001 of 1.88 minimal daily salaries.
